Muniru leads Bucharesti to Romania Cup final

Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muniru proved pivotal for his club side Steau Bucharesti in a 1-0 first leg win over Astra in the Romania League Cup Semi Finals.

The versatile winger, who can also play as a fullback capped a highly involving night with a pearling cross which eventually led to the game’s only goal to put his side into the lead ahead of the return leg.

Fans of the Romania side gave their Ghanaian hero a standing ovation when he left the pitch with 10 minutes to play.

Sulley Muniru, the junior brother of Sulley Ali Muntari enjoyed a bright start to his Bucharesti season before a mid-season injury scare forced him to the bench in recent time.

The fit again Ghanaian midfielder, however, made an impressive return to the Steau’s first team action as the season reaches its home streak.

Steua could book a place in next month’s final showdown if they can avoid heavy defeat in the return leg.
