Monaco set to sign Ghanaian Abdul Basit in January

French giants Monaco are seeking to sign Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abdul Basit in January after he impressed during a two-week trial last month, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

Basit, 26, was handed a trial session by the French outfit where he is reported to have excelled.

The Ghanaian, who is currently on the books of Lithuanian side Stumbras, has attracted interest from several European outfits.

He has been a key member of the Stumbras side, notching three goals in 24 appearances so far.

But what has been a striking is the immense quality of the former Berekum Chelsea captain since he joined the Lithuanian side from Bahrain champions Muharraq.

Officials of Monaco are believed to be have been impressed with the Ghanaian and could pounce to sign him in the winter.

The Ghanaian midfielder captained Berekum Chelsea to reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League in 2012.

The hugely talented midfielder also led the Local Black Stars in the WAFU tournament in Kumasi in 2013 as well as the CHAN tournament in South Africa same year.
