Ministry sets up committee to honour heroes

Kwadjo Baah-Wiredu, Ministry of Youth, Education and Sports has set up a seven-member committee to reorganise sports heroes in the country as well as project their image.

The committee chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Owusu- Ansah, Acting Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC), has been tasked to identify sports heroes and heroines both past and present who have contributed to the development of sports in the country and name sports facilities and locations after them.

Other members of the committee are, Ken Bediako, Charles Oheneba, Frank Appeagyei, Elizabeth Quarmyne, Randy Abbey and Kofi Aggrey.

A statement signed by Kofi Aggrey, Public Relations Officer of the ministry and made available to the GNA Sports, said the committee would submit proposals for the establishment and management of a museum and Sports Library in Accra and Kumasi Stadiums.

The committee has up to the end of August to submit its final report to the ministry.
