Meteors trip to Liberia uncertain

The national Under-23 team the Black Meteors' trip to Liberia to engage their counterparts in the first leg qualifying match for next years' Olympic Games in Athens Greece seems uncertain following recent unrests in that country.

Information gathered the GNA Sports from the secretariat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) revealed that a letter has been sent to FIFA by the FA on the current situation in Liberia.

According to the information the response of the world football governing body would determine whether the team should make the trip to Liberia or not.

The Meteors who have been undergoing weekly camping at the Tema Hospitality Centre for the past weeks, are expected to resume camping this week for a final brush up before they leave for Liberia.

Reports reaching Ghana indicate that the government of Charles Taylor in Liberia is in a serious battle with rebel groups, now at the outskirts of the capital Monrovia, as they attempt to overthrow him.
