Medeama president Moses Armah has hailed his players despite losing 1-0 at Al Ittihad in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

A controversial penalty denied the Ghanaians a big result in Tunisia after going down courtesy El Bulki's first half strike from the spot kick.

Medeama put up a solid performance from the heart of the park with midfield maestro Malik Akowuah bringing his A-game to bear.

Akowuah,a former Ashantigold star, was the chief architect of an impressive showing against the North Africans.

And club president Moses Armah, has hailed the players for their effort.

"We played well today and the boys deserve commendation," he said

"Everybody who saw the game will attest to the fact that we didn't deserve to lose.

"The boys showed character and zeal and we look forward to the return encounter.

He added: We cannot underestimate them in the return leg. They are a good side and we must be wary.

"But I am confident we can turn things around and qualify to the next stage of the competition."

Medeama host the reverse fixture at the Esspoing stadium in Sekondi on March 20.
