Medeama part ways with Coach Tanko

Medeama SC has fired head coach Shaibu Tanko after a string of poor results in the Premier League.

The Tarkwa-based club confirmed the breakdown of their marriage with Tanko, who held the fort following the departure of Bashir Hayford to AshantiGold in a statement on their official website.

“Medeama Sporting Club has parted company this morning with Coach Shaibu Tanko. Management took the decision in the best interest of the club after realizing that his commitment was becoming a source of worry,” it stated.

The statement said “our results in the second half of the Ghana Premier League has not been good enough and management have terminated his contract by mutual consent.

“The owner and the Board would like to thank Tanko for all he has done for the club since he joined us.”

According to the statement, the club will make an announcement on a new head coach in due course.

The leaders will engage King Faisal on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in a week-18 fixture.

Tanko becomes the first coaching casualty in the second round of the league.
