Medeama aim at bettering 2014 Confed Cup Campaign

Medeama Medeama

Ghana FA Cup Champions Medeama SC have set a target of bettering their 2014 Confederations Cup campaign where they reached the play-off stage.

The Tarkwa-mauves enjoyed a remarkable continental championship debut in 2014, edging past two sides before being eventually booted out by Congolese side AC Leopards in the play-off tie. Tom Strands’ side have won a ticket to play in the competition again, and according to assistant coach Evans Adotey, the club will ride on the innumerable experience copped from their previous campaign to achieve more this season.

Adortey, who doubles as the head coach of the Black Maiden lavished praises on the management of the club for making an essential input to increase the squad depth ahead of the Africa Competition.

Medeama edged out Kumasi Asante Kotoko to clinch the 2015 CAF confederation slot and the domestic FA cup glory.

“We have set a target for ourselves to go past our last hurdle in Africa. We want to go far further than where we exited the last campaign. It is all about good planning and motivation of the players including organization in time”, the Assistant coach told sports crusader.

When quizzed on Medeama’s dominant win over Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the cup final, he said, “We have done it before and we were motivated to play in Africa. It was a planned we set for ourselves to either win the league or the FA cup and the FA cup came. It was an accomplished mission set by ourselves. Our performance on the day was all because of player development. The technical team wanted to open an avenue for all the registered players and you can see it, even without Nathaniel Asamoah in our ranks. It goes down to motivation on whoever that is registered on our team”.

Medeama tasted Continental football for the first time in 2013 to cap another FA Cup glory for the first time in their history. The Mauves and Yellows were however eliminated at the early stages of the continental club festival.
