Massive shake up in the Black Stars coaching staff

A massive shake-up is expected to hit the backroom staff of the Black Stars following the appointment of Kwesi Appiah, GHANAsoccernet.com has gathered.

The 51-year-old was unveiled to the media as the substantive boss of the African giant on Tuesday at a short but impressive ceremony at the Ghana Federation.

The ex-Asante Kotoko coach is reported to be keen to assemble new members to serve on his backroom staff.

Key among the casualties expected to be hit by the new changes include long-standing goalkeeper’s trainer Eddie Ansah, experienced team manager Opoku Afriyie and Dr. Percy Annan who are likely to be re-assigned.

Sources say Asante Kotoko boss Maxwell Konadu will be appointed as the deputy coach of the team while veteran ex-Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Nii Saban Quaye will get the nod as the new team manager.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper’s trainer Abubakari Damba is rumuored to be top of the radar to replace Eddie Ansah while Dr Agyapong could take over from Dr Annan as the team’s medical officer.

Kwesi Appiah worked with Coach Konadu to win the country’s first ever gold medal in football at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo while Saban Quaye served as the team manager.
