MTN donates to Black Stars

Kumasi, May 31, GNA - Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) on Friday donated 25,000 Ghana cedis to the senior national team, the Black Stars at a ceremony at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Making the presentation, Mr George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, said the gesture forms part of the company's contractual obligation to the success of the Stars.

He said MTN will continue to rally its support to ensure that the team qualifies to represent Ghana and Africa when the world's football elites meet in South Africa in 2010. Mr Andah urged the playing body to train harder and ensure that total victory becomes their hall mark in all their matches. Skipper John Mensah who received the amount thanked the MTN for the gesture and called for full support from all Ghanaians in their qualifying matches.

The Black Stars meet Libya in one of the qualifying series in Kumasi on Sunday, June 1.
