MP presents footballs to Asankrangwa Ridge Stars.

Asankrangwa (W/R) Feb.26 - GNA -Mrs. Agnes Sonful, Member of Parliament for Amenfi West on Saturday presented two footballs worth about one million cedis to the local Ridge Stars football club, second division campaigners at a ceremony at Asankrangwa.

She said the gift was her widow's mite towards unearthing talents and improving football and other sporting activities in the Wassa West district.

She urged the management of Ridge Stars and the playing body to work hard to win the current Aowin-Amenfi district second division league to bring honour to the constituency by qualifying for the first division league.

Mr. Roxy Armoh, chairman of the club who received the footballs thanked Mrs Sonful for the gift and said this would go a long way to encourage the players to work hard.

He urged sports enthusiasts, philanthropists and well-meaning citizens of the area to come to the aid of the club by contributing either in cash or in kind for the sustenance of the club.

Mr. Armoh promised that the management would work hard to ensure the qualification of the club for the middle league and eventually to the first division league. 26 Feb 04
