MP donates to Black Queens

Winneba (C/R), Aug. 17, GNA - Ms Elizabeth Agyeman, Member of Parliament for Oforikrom in Kumasi on Thursday donated cartons of food beverages and footballs and jerseys worth 21 million cedis plus a cheque of five million cedis to the Black Queens at their camp base at the Winneba Sports College.

The beverages include lucozade, blue jeans and red bull energy drinks, ideal milk, Milo drinks and loaves of bread. The others are two sets of jerseys, six footballs and toiletries. Ms Agyeman said her donation and visit to the camp of thequeeens was to motivate them and also encourage them to excel in their World Cup qualification like their men counterparts, the Black Stars did. She said as a female MP, she felt it was about time women came together to champion their own cause, adding that the Queens were being cheated in terms of support from the public.

Ms Agyeman therefore appealed to corporate and institutions to assist in championing the course of women in their endeavour. Lydia Ankrah, who received the items on behalf of the Queens expressed appreciation for the MP's gesture, adding that it was a good sign o better things to happen to the team.

She appealed to the supporting public to lend their moral and unflinching to ensure that they qualified for the World Cup. They are currently feverishly preparing for their qualifying series at the Winneba Sports College.
