Local players called for Black Stars camping

Accra, Feb 23, GNA -Professor Mariano Barreto, head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars has invited 25 local players to report for camping on Wednesday 25 February.

The camping expected to last for only two days is the first time the players of the Stars will be regrouping since the coach was appointed a few weeks ago and the coach is to use this period to familiarize with the players who may form the nucleus of the national football team.

According to a released signed by Mr Ampim Darko, deputy general secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and copied to the GNA Sports, coach Barreto will use the opportunity to familiarize himself with the 25 players invited players who may form the nucleus of the Black Stars.

The coach will on 27 February organize a match for the players and will use it to observe them in their match situation and preparedness. Defending league champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko lead the pack with ten players made up of Louis Quainoo, Aziz Ansah, Daniel Yeaboah, Joseph Hedricks, Godfried Yeboah, Michael Asante, William Tiero, Frank Osei, Nana Arhin Duah and Shilla Alhasan.

Accra Hearts of Oak follow closely with six players to be led by goalkeeper Sammy Adjei, Eben Dida, Dan Quaye, Amankwaa Mireku, Lawrence Adjei and Ablade Morgan.

Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals trio of Issifu Ansah, Emmanuel Frimpong and David Addo will join the likes of Hamza Mohammed and Osei Kofi from the camp of King Faisal.

The rest are Awudu Ronaldo from Goldfields, Ishau Yaro Real Sportive, Seth Antwi of Arsenals and Andy Pomeyie Accra Great Olympics respectively.
