Local Black Stars Win 3-Nation Tournament

APA-Monrovia (Liberia)- Ghana has lifted the three-nation soccer tournament trophy held to commemorate Liberia’s 163rd independence anniversary which was celebrated on Monday.

Ghana beat Liberia 1-0, after drawing with Guinea 1-1. Liberia which lost one game and won one game and accumulated three points, emerged second in the tournament, while Guinea which attained one point, came bottom of the tournament.

The tournament was held between Liberia, Guinea and Ghana because it was the leaders of these three countries that in 1963 held a meeting in Sanniquellie, Nimba County, the venue of this year’s independence day celebrations, which was considered the precursor of the Organization of African Unity, now the African Union.
