Liverpool have eyes on Ghana U17 stars

Liverpool's partnership deal with Ghana's Ashgold has given them first refusal on some of the country's brightest prospects.

Ashgold boast four of Ghana's brightest youngsters in U17 internationals Emmanuel Adjetey, David Telfer, Mubarak Wakaso and Opoku Agyemang. Agyemang was Ghana's top scorer at the African Under-17 Championships in Gambia with five goals.

Chievo Verona defender John Mensah and Ankarag?c? striker Augustine Ahinful are both Ashgold old boys and a sure sign that Liverpool are onto a winner with their new alliance.

The Ghanian media have embraced Liverpool's involvement with Ashgold, hailing the development as a major step forward for the professional game in the country.

The deal was struck earlier this month and follows on from Liverpool's community deal with grassroots United States soccer.
