Lions hold Ashgold in Top Four tourney

Accra, Aug. 4, GNA - Kpando Heart of Lions and Obuasi Ashantigold

settled for a barren draw in their GHALCA Top Four clash on Wednesday

at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

Ashgold had the better of the chances of the encounter, but failed to

make the most of them, especially in the second half.

Lions started the game on a high note with marauding runs upfront

and making clear their intent to carry the day.

However, their burly striker Gilbert Fiamenyo's wide efforts in the

early stages were all they could boast of in their search for the opener.

Ashantigold responded positively and virtually took over the game

but failed to convert their dominance into goals.

Striker Frederick Quayson was the worse culprit as he failed to

convert three clear-cut chances that came his way for the Miners to carry

the day.

On 65 minutes, veteran midfielder Lawrence Adjah Tetteh of Hearts

fame was unlucky to put Lions in front as his long drive was easily dealt

with by Ashgold goalie Fatau Dauda to the admiration of the young

sizable at the stadium.

The closest chance of the game came the way of the visitors on 80

minutes but substitute Theophilus Anobaah after weaving his way

through the Lions defence saw his shot across goal edge wide, which

needed just a tap with goalie Joseph Addo completely beaten.

In the other clash held at Dorma Ahenkro, Premier League champions

Aduana Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak also played to a barren draw.

Ashantigold lead the pack with four points, Lions and Hearts of Oak

follow in that order on two points with Aduana at the bottom with a

point.
