Liberty coach disappointed

Accra, Feb 16, GNA - Coach Silas Tetteh of Liberty Professionals has expressed disappointment at his team's poor performance in the just ended Coca Cola Top Four competition, but said it has exposed the strength and weaknesses of the team.

Speaking to the GNA Sports in an interview, Coach Tetteh was dissatisfied with bottom-placed position of his team in the four-club league table after the three-week competition, recording just a single victory against winners King Faisal.

He said the abysmal showing was partly due to the loss of five key players including Asamoah Gyan, now in Italy, which depleted the attacking machinery and subsequently affected their delivery. Coach Tetteh said the exercise has however, served a good purpose for the team and expressed the hope of correcting the rough edges before this year's league commences.

The coach said the competition has also afforded him the opportunity to know the strength of the team and this he hopes to improve on it. According to coach Tetteh, the competition has served as a platform for some of the newly promoted juvenile players from the club's nursery academy to assess themselves and to give them the confidence for the league.

"These boys have showcased their talent and are prepared for the bigger events", he said.
