Leicester start excites Schlupp

Leicester City midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp is delighted to have made his first league start for the club in five months.

The 23-year-old was named in coach Claudio Ranieri’s set-up that handed Swansea City a 4-0 defeat at King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Lasting until the 80th minute, Schlupp set up Leonardo Ulloa’s second goal, with Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton also finding the back of the net for the home side.

“It (starting against Swansea) gave me a massive boost,” Schlupp told Foxes Player HD.

“That was my first start since November, obviously with the long-term injury.

“It was a massive boost and I went out there and thought I did well, contributed to the team and helped them get the three points.

“It gives me a lot [of confidence]. I went out there and he [Claudio Ranieri] told me what he wanted to do – to be direct and use my pace. I thought I went out there and did that.

“I said to myself and the boys that I’ll give my all. Whether it’s 60 or 70 minutes, I’d run myself to the ground. I did tire and obviously I came off, but I gave it my all.”

With a goal to his name this season, the Hamburg-born has made 21 league appearances, and Sunday’s start was his 13thof the campaign.
