Leicester City Schlupp bemoans costly errors

Jeffrey Schlupp claims Leicester need to cut out the costly errors if they are going to pull away from relegation danger this season.

The Foxes have only picked up one point in their last six outings, while the 2-0 defeat at high-flying Southampton on Saturday left them stuck in 18th place in the table.

Schlupp was operating in a left-back role at St Mary’s in what was his 100th game for the Foxes, but Shane Long spoilt the Ghana international’s milestone appearance with two late goals.

It leaves Nigel Pearson’s side aiming for a first win since the 5-3 victory against Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on September 21.

And Schlupp claims the defence must start cutting out mistakes and the forward players need to put their chances away if they are going to stop the rot.

He told Foxes Player, he said: “I think we could have defended better at times – we need to cut out the mistakes that are costing us.

“The boys grafted out there for 60 to 70 minutes but in future I think we need to try and get that early goal and get a foothold in the game and also take our chances.
