League title is our target - New Edubiase boss declares

Accra, Aug. 25, GNA – President of New Edubiase FC, Yakubu Abdul Salam, has said his club is aiming at annexing the 2011/12 Premier League title, insisting that they have a formidable squad to achieve that target.

“I joined the premiership with Aduana Stars and they have won the ultimate and I believe it’s our turn also now to win the premiership.

“Berekum Chelsea have also shown us the way and we are keen on following their footsteps in the next League season. We are capable of winning the League trophy and we will work towards that”. He declared.

Speaking in an interview with GNA Sports, he said, “I still have the core of my team and we are seriously preparing for the premiership. We are going all out in the coming season to grab the premiership”.

Abdul Salam, however, noted that the premiership success will not come on a silver platter but through hard work on the part of the playing body and management team.

He said the next League season will be keenly competed for, taking into consideration the level of preparations by the Clubs adding that one therefore needs to go the extra mile to be successful.

Touching on Club financing by individuals, he described it a difficult venture, saying there is the need for communities to come to the aid of Clubs financed by individuals.

He said football management is capital intensive and it requires the support of communities where such Clubs come from to enable them survive.

“If all members of a community will make it a point to contribute 1.00GHc to the development of a Club in their community, I believe that it will provide financial strength to the Clubs for their survival.”

He also appealed to corporate bodies to provide financial aid to the Clubs to enable them deliver in the premiership.
