Lazio eye Boateng swoop

Lazio are preparing a swoop for Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The 23-year-old Ghana international is expected to leave the English club this summer after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

He signed a three-year contract with Pompey in August last year but since then the South Coast outfit fell into administration and slipped into the Championship.

Despite Portsmouth's disappointing campaign, Boateng was one of the few players to shine at Fratton Park and a number of clubs are thought to be keeping an eye on him.

Lazio finished 12th in Serie A last term and are looking to break back into the top half of the table.

Boateng, who is of German descent, came through the ranks at Hertha Berlin before moving to Tottenham in 2007.

He transferred to Portsmouth for £4million but with the English side in financial turmoil, Lazio may be looking to take him to the Stadio Olimpico for a cut price.
