Lathbridge to handle Ashgold-Hearts SIC/SWAG match

Accra, July 22, GNA - Kumasi based Federation of International Boxing Association (FIFA) referee, Reginald Lathbridge has been appointed by the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) to handle the first leg of the SIC/SWAG Cup match between Ashgold and Hearts of Oak at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi, on Sunday, July 25.

Referee Lathbridge will be assisted on the lines by Richard Appiah and Eric Owusu Mensah, with Lord Vuvor acting as the fourth referee. The referees are expected in Obuasi on Sunday morning to conduct pre match proceedings. The appointments by RAG, brings to an end speculations over whether a Ghanaian or foreign based referee would be in the centre. The SWAG, last year, had a disagreement with the RAG over the

appointments of referees to the appointment of a Togolese referees to handle the last edition of the SWAG match.

The two bodies have since resolved the misunderstanding hence the smooth

appointment of referee Lathbridge.
