Laryea denies beating up Hearts of Oak's accountant

Controversial Hearts of Oak midfielder Laryea Kingston has denied he physically assaulted the club’s accountant two months ago.

The latest incident took place after a friendly game against Apex FC in February and it was after Kingston was accused of absconding before the league break for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Heart of Midlothian player was told his wages would be withdrawn but reacted angrily when the club’s accountant delivered the news to him. Hearts went on to hand the 33-year-old an indefinite suspension but Kingston denied ever beating up the accountant.

“It’s never true I punched him. We had a game at the Accra stadium, he handed a letter to one of my boys and when I received the letter I questioned him it was not right to bring the letter there but at least he should have called me to his office,” Kingston told Joy Sports.

”I didn’t touch him and those around when he came to me can testify to that. Sometimes when issues of such nature come, it’s better to keep mute. So that’s why I decided not to talk about it until now,” he added.

Kingston’s contract with Hearts of Oak will expire in June but the experienced player revealed he will not extend his contract.
