La Mantse endorses Ghana Beach Soccer arena proposal

The La mantse, Dr. Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III has given the green light for the country's first ever Ghana Beach Soccer Arena to be built in Accra. ''It is high time that this game which is obviously making waves in my community and indeed many other coastal communities across Ghana is pushed with the full weight from all angles and I will set the ball rolling with my support ''

The endorsement comes after he presented medals and the winning trophy to players and officials at the climax of the 2012/13 Ghana Beach Soccer League.

The announcement has brought excitement to one of the most exciting sporting disciplines to hit Ghana in many years.

If plans to bring forth the country's first beach soccer arena go through, it would be a remarkable breakthrough for a sport that has been struggling to make an impact on a sponsorship package of just Gh40,000 a year for twenty clubs.

The La King who sat through five hours of the Beach Soccer Finals also voiced out his admiration and support for the GBSA and it's executives. The GBSA which was founded in 2009 by ace is sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is set to kick off season three in partnership with the GFA next year.

A delighted GBSA President beamed ''This is just the beginning of better things to come and once we have one Arena, we will invoke the proverbial ''Oliver Twist'' mentality and ask for more across the country'' Ampofo Ankrah was joined by La Pleasure Beach Resort executive Fred Obuor Afful, player coach of Layoca Nii Laaye Bonne and GBSA deputy coordinator Yaw Kusi Awere.
