LOC outdoors 'Passions' newsletter

Accra, Sept 20, GNA - The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Ghana CAN 2008 tournament has released the maiden edition of their newsletter 'Passions', for free distribution. The 36-page colourful newsletter is to be distributed to national football associations across the world, particularly those participating in the qualifiers, corporate bodies, diplomatic missions and the general public.

The publication, which serves as the mouthpiece of the LOC and its secretariats, has Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer of the LOC as its editor in chief.

The debut edition features events in the day-to-day activities of the LOC, its relationship with the Government through the Education, Science and Sports Ministry and its collaboration with the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) towards the organization and the hosting of the bi-annual championship.

Some of the highlights of the flashy magazine that formed part of the package, includes the LOC introduction of the global launch of the blueprint for organization of the competition as well as message of hope from Alhaji Issa Hayatou, President of CAF.

A special message from the sector Minister, Papa Owusu-Ankomah eulogized Black Stars performance in their debut Mundial appearance in Germany last June and other events that he said had drawn the world's attention to Ghana and the plume competition that spans from January 20-Febreuary 10.

The Minister emphasised government's commitment towards the creation of the needed environment to ensure every sphere of endeavour flourished.

Dr Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the LOC in a statement reassured the government and Ghanaians that 91members of the LOC will eventually be known less by the goals we set and more by the mindsets we build, both for greater personal integrity and for exceptional organizational capabilities'.

He underscored the LOC's commitment to make sanitation a mantra and that his colleagues will follow this diligently and expect other Ghanaians to also get on board in that direction.
