LG Top Four: Kotoko Play Olympics Today

ACCRA Great Olympics have in times past done many strange things to give meaning to their Wonder Club image. Most of these things have not helped their case on the field either.

Last week, their LG Top Four clash with Liberty Professionals was overshadowed by the reported resignation of Coach David Duncan who surprisingly made a U-turn to supervise his team’s 4-0 drubbing.

A week later, Duncan is singing the same old tune ahead of Olympics’ clash with Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Stadium today.

The instability within the club could cause them heavily against Kotoko who showed improved form last Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak in Kumasi.

Kotoko earlier spanked Olympics 3-1 in Kumasi and look primed to repeat the dose tomorrow to take a firm grip of the top position in the month-long tournament.

Olympics sometimes derive their old-fashion charm from their ability to cause upsets when least expected. But these are not good times for the Dade Boys, who after three successive losses in the LG Top Four, have become the whipping side in the competition. They have little strength in them to whip up the little confidence their followers have in them to bounce back strongly against their traditional allies.

If their progress in the competition is anything to go by, then the red army looks set for another easy pay-day in a battle between the strongest and weakest sides in the competition.
But who knows, Duncan could return to lead his side to cause an upset.
