The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantekyi has said that the standard of play in the local league has improved compared to ten years ago.

Speaking to the media at a press soiree on Thursday, December 31, 2015 Mr. Nyantekyi said, “What I saw maybe ten years ago, and what I have seen now, I can say I have seen a much improvement in the standard of play.”

Mr. Kwesi Nyantekyi ranked the quality of the Ghana Premier League higher than the Nigerian and South African leagues.

“When I compare our standard to what I see in other countries like Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, and Benin I can say that we rank high in terms of quality,” he said.

“The Ghanaian is naturally endowed with skill in soccer. What we lack is the resources to polish it up to the level that Messi and Ronaldo have attained, but I believe that we may get there one day,” he added.

Mr. Kwesi Nyantekyi also urged the media to help propagate the vision, ideals, and the philosophy of the Ghana Football Association but also cautioned that the media should be decent in dealing with the GFA.
