Kotoko whitewash Semassi club of Togo

Kumasi Asante Kotoko still basking in their success at the recent LG Top Four tournament, on Sunday gave Semassi Club of Togo a drubbing, beating them 6-0 in a friendly international match in Kumasi.

Kotoko scored three goals in each half in this virtually one-sided match at which the Togolese did not offer any real challenge.

Eddie Owusu-Ansah, Kwame Adjagba, Michael Osei and Frank Osei comprised the demolition squad that gave Kotoko their goals and it was Owusu-Ansah who started the goal rush with a fourth minute opener from a header.

There was a two-man move from midfield between Stephen Oduro and Michael Osei and Oduro's cross found the head of Owusu-Ansah for the opener.

Kotoko pilled the pressure on the visitors and in the 23rd minute, Stephen Oduro missed a good chance to raise the tally when he shot across the goalmouth.

The homesters were unrelenting in their attack and in the 31st minute, Kwame Adjagba let go a thunderbolt from about 40 metres which flew past goalkeeper Sekumene Claude.

The Togolese could hardly penetrate the Kotoko defence and speedster Micheal Osei raised the tally to 3-0 in the 43rd minute when he lobbed the ball over the head of on-rushing goalkeeper into the net.

The second half followed virtually the same pattern as Owusu-Ansah netted the fourth goal in the 51st minute and at this stage Semassi decided that goalkeeper Sekumene had had enough and was replaced by Mohamed Azim.

But the change was not to deprive Kotoko of more goals as Michael Osei blasted home the fifth goal in the 53rd minute and Frank Osei nailed the coffin of Semassi with an 89th minute goal.
