Kotoko want me back - Jordan Opoku

Berekum Chelsea midfielder Jordan Opoku is claiming his former club Kumasi Asante Kotoko want him back.

The Feyenoord Academy product, who left the Porcupine Warriors in 2009 after two seasons, is now one of the best materials on the local scene. Opoku won the league title and the President’s Cup competition with Kotoko in the 2008-09 season.

He told Radio XYZ that his former club has shown serious interest in reclaiming him. “Well there is something like that in the pipeline; they have spoken to me but yet to speak with my team Chelsea so I can’t really say much,” Opoku said.

The 2002 SWAG Discovery of the Year winner joined Berekum Chelsea in 2011 after a loan spell with Armenian side Tirana.

He further emphasised that nothing conclusive has taken place despite his respect for the Ghanaian champions.

Opoku added: “What I can say is that Kotoko is a big club, I played there for two seasons, had a great time with them and achieved great things while in Kumasi but as we speak nothing has happened. I will soon make a decision on that.”

Opoku is currently a member of the local Black Stars team which is preparing for next year’s Championships of African Nations (CHAN) competition in South Africa.
