Kotoko to pounce for Chelsea duo

In their attempt to strengthen their side for next year’s CAF Champions League, Asante Kotoko have enquired about the availability of influential Berekum Chelsea duo Owusu Jackson and Captain Abdul Basit, footy-Ghana.com understands.

The porcupine warriors believe the inclusion of the duo will further make them a formidable side especially counting on their impressive involvement in the 2012 African club competition with the Berekum-based club.

However, Kotoko would have to brace themselves up in making huge financial commitments in order to get the duo.

According to our sources, Berekum Chelsea are set to reply Kotoko’s request with a non-negotiable GH¢80,000 price tag on experience captain Abdul Basit.

The club is however reluctant to sell defensive midfielder Owusu Jackson who they deem is currently the spine of the coach Tony Lokko-led side.

In related news, Berekum Chelsea after their league game last Sunday made attempts to lure back former duo Patrick Cole and Razak Egyir who they sold to Premier League returnees Bechem United.

According to our sources, Berekum Chelsea officials held a fruitful meeting with the duo whose performance for the Bechem club has been immense in the on-going season.
