Kotoko to engage Aduana Stars on GPL last day

Asante Kotoko Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko will face Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on match day 30 of the 2014-15 First Capital Plus Premier League.

Current forma and team news

Kotoko

The Porcupine Warriors are undefeated in their last 5 league games. Winning 4 and drawing 1, but are struggling to survive in the league because they were docked 6 points, after Hearts of Oak protest against them was upheld by the Disciplinary Committee (DC).

However, Kotoko faithful are optimistic of winning an appeal against the decision of the DC, hence will be 6 points rich should that happen. This will enable them to finish 2 on the league ladder if they manage a win against Aduana Stars who are sitting 2 on the league log.

Eric Donkor happens to be Kotoko’s most improved player at the moment, threatening opposing sides with incisive inswings and set-pieces and was the hero last week Sunday when he made amends by scoring the match winner in the Porcupine Warriors away win in Sekondi against Hasaacas, after missing from the spot kick.

They will be missing the services of Dauda Mohammed and Eric Ofori Antwi, who have been shortlisted for the club’s best player for the month of August due the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.

However, they still have Ahmed Toure, the leading top scorer for the dethroned league champions, who is on 11 league goals and Obed Owusu, who has also been nominated for the player of the month award.

Aduana Stars

The Dormaa lads are lying 2 on the league log and need just a draw to emerge runners-up of the 2014-15 league season.

Richard Arhin who scored the lone goal in Aduana Stars’ match day one win over Kotoko at Dormaa is the leading scorer for his side with 8 league goals.

The 2010 league champions have a strong defence, comprising Godfred Saka, Stephen Adams and Emmanuel Akuoko, the skipper of the side and are likely to come relying on that with the intention of settling for a draw.

Head to head

These sides have played against each other on 11 occasions. Aduana Stars have won 4, while Kotoko have won 3 and 4 games have ended in draws.

In Kumasi, the home side are unbeaten against the Dormaa lads, (W3, D2)

This season Aduana handed the Porcupine Warriors a 1-0 defeat on the opening day of the league at Dormaa.
