Kotoko has spent Gh¢ 90,000 on Juju

Former Kotoko great and current management member Rev. Osei Kofi has reacted angrily to his omission from the 4-man Kotoko contingent which has left the country for London to receive the International Football Federation History and Statistics (IFFHS) ‘African Club of the Century’ award.

He has revealed on live radio that the club has spent a whooping Gh¢ 90,000 (ninety thousand Ghana Cedis) on superstition alone this season.

Originally scheduled as part of the entourage for the trip, teh football legend says he was excluded with an excuse from the management members that he had been barred from travelling by plane by doctors.

“I have not been to the hospital for the past five years and I don’t know which doctor gave that advice.

“It doesn’t bother me at all if I was left behind because if it is London, then most of the management members who travelled were not born when I first went there in 1968,” Rev. Osei Kofi told Ark FM in Sunyani.

The IFFHS earlier this year revealed Kotoko as the best African club of the century based on their records and statistics. The 4-man Kotoko team left Accra on Monday and were expected to receive the award on behalf of the club yesterday.

Rev. Osei Kofi admits his disappointment but has promised not to take the matter to court for the disgrace that he has been barred from flying.

Instead, the former Black Stars prolific winger says he has written a book in which he has filed all records of the current management and which he will present to the owner and life patron of the club Otumfuo Osei Tutu II when management meet him at the end of the season.

According to Rev. Osei Kofi who is also Technical Director at the Sports Ministry, key among the revelations of the book is the fact that the current management has spent not less than Gh¢ 90,000 on ways and means alone this season.

He added that because he abhors the belief in superstition, other management members have sided against him, the reason why he was excluded from the London trip.
