Kotoko consider Konongo for new home ground

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have shelved plans of using the Paa Joe stadium at the University of Science and Technology.

They have now settled on the Konongo sports stadium as their new home grounds when they eventually move from the Baba Yara stadium in two weeks time.

The management team of the porcupine warriors today made a trip to Konongo to conduct feasibility studies on the new ground site.

Kotoko, also have another option in their Ridge training facility.

An interim management team member of Kotoko, Kwabena Kesse, told Joy Sports that the club decided to abandon the Paa Joe stadium plan because of the estimated cost of construction works on the stands and an inner perimeter around the pitch.

Kotoko?s city rivals, King Faisal have adopted the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

Liberty Professionals would be using their Dansoman training grounds for their league matches while Hearts go to El-Wak sports stadium in Accra.

Sekondi Hasaacas are considering three venues- Cape Coast, Tarkwa and the Ghana Secondary Technical school park in Takoradi.

At a meeting between the GFA and the four affected clubs last week Friday, it was decided that all three major stadia to be used for the 2008 African Cup of Nations- Kumasi, Sekondi and Accra- will be closed down simultaneously on Monday August 15 2005.
