Kotoko Refused Presidential Jet

The Minister of Youth and Sports Edward Osei Kweku says Kumasi Asante Kotoko cannot travel on the presidential jet as requested by the club to Morocco for their African Cup Winners Cup first leg final game against Wydad Casablanca.

Osei Kweku told joyonline that the government would only release the F27 Air Force plane to the Porcupine Warriors saying that even though the Kotoko match is of prime import, it doesn’t merit the release of the F28 presidential jet.

The Ministry’s stance means Kotoko would have to travel by commercial plane to the game. And that means more bills for the club’s management. Kotoko’s management says the safety of players will be at risk if they travel on the Air Force plane.

Kotoko’s Accra representative Kwame Amoah Bosompem told myjoyonline that they need to get the players to Morocco in good condition and they do not trust that the F27 plane would ensure that. He said the club has already put in place plans to fly to Casablanca on other flights.
