Konadu identifies weak point of CHAN team

The head coach of the home-based group of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has revealed his biggest headache is in moulding up to standard strikers as the CHAN team sets up Obuasi camp to prepare for the WAFU championship slated for Kumasi next month.

Konadu who is also the assistant coach of the senior national team, suggests the technical team’s main concern about the current Local Black Stars squad who are set to participate in the 2014 CHAN in South Africa from January lies in attack.

“Ghana is well endowed and gifted with top midfielders and this current team’s strength lies in midfield. The attack is where we have a problem and with the few attackers we have for this team, we have to work very hard for them to meet their standards,” the local Black Stars head coach said.

A 30-man squad already began their first of two five-day camping sessions on Monday and break camp on Friday morning.

The team would regroup on November 17th to complete preparation for the eight-nation GoTV Wafu Cup which starts four days later. Ghana are paired with Sierra Leone, Benin and Burkina Faso in Group A of the tournament and will end on November 28, 2013.
