Kingston wants correction in international caps record

JOHANNESBURG - Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has said in an interview that he had earned more international caps than the 81 he is currently credited with.

The Wigan Athletic keeper wants to see the Black Stars reach the medal zone of the competition after appearing to be the only African side to have secured a second round place after finishing second in Group D with former winners Germany beating them 1-0 to top the group.

According to the Ghana goalkeeper he currently hold a record of 93 international caps and not 81 as being attached to his records.

"I have alerted officials of my federation on that wrong figure but they have not change it. I will remind them again when we get to our hotel" he said.

"At age 32 with 81 caps you appear very active and pulling fine saves like you did tonite" he said, "I must say its seriousness and hard work during training sessions that has kept me active but my international caps are more than 81".

He added, "I have been calculating and its was 92 before our match against Germany today so its now 93 and not 81. My target is 100 caps and may be another international goal like I did against Tanzania two years ago."

According to Richard Kingson, he scored a beautiful equalizer for the Black Stars when they travelled to Tanzania to honour an international friendly on August 20th 2008, which he claims was a gift to Coach Milovan Rajevac, who had then joined the team for the first time.

He also claims he wants to be among the best three keepers at the end of the tournament.

Richard Kingson has promised to keep another clean sheet in their game against the USA on Saturday.

Kingson who has been with the Black Stars since the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa was voted the third best goalkeeper at the last World Cup in Germany.
