Kingson to Sign a Swedish Record Deal

In a bid to deny Ghanaian international goalie, Richard 'Oleley' Kingson a move to feature in the Barclays Premiership next season after reports had it that the goalie is likely to join English Champions, Manchester United, officials of Swedish Premiership side Hammarby are set to present before Kingson the biggest Swedish club record contract in order for the Ghanaian to extent his stay with the club.

The contract which is expected to be presented to Kingson and his agent after the clubs league game this weekend, will see the former Accra Great Olympics goalkeeper being among the three top earners of Hammarby as well as the biggest signing of a goalie in the Swedish Premiership.

Speaking in a telephone interview from his Swedish base, Kingson whose side currently occupy the second spot of the league table confirmed the story and said his agent had informed him about Hammarby's decision to hand him a lucrative deal that will keep him at the club for three more years in order to help them clinch the Premiership title and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

According to the media-shy goalie who is also the senior brother of Scottish side Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingson, playing in the UEFA Champions League next season will be another wonderful experience since he has always wished to re-announce his presence after his first appearance at the prestigious European soccer fiesta six years back when a young goalie, he kept the post for Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Kingson whose contract with Hammarby ends this month claimed he will me meeting with his agent next week to discuss the deal.

"I will be meeting with my agent to discuss the deal next week when the league goes on break because though the Barclays Premiership appears to be my main target, I also need a club that will always keep me busy in post in order to maintain my top shape ahead of the 2008 African Cup of Nations" he said.

"I think Hammarby has kept me busy since joining them last March and judging from the massive reception and media coverage I received daily it won't be a bad idea to extend my stay with them should they present a good offer" he added.

Kingson returned from a long lay-off to make the number one spot of Ghana’s national team, Black Stars his ‘personal property’ some few months ahead of the Germany World Cup last June after performing gallantly in the Stars preparatory games to Germany believes the Stars will definitely lift the trophy next year when best in Africa assembles in Ghana for what he termed the ‘African Showdown.

“I believe with the caliber of players and unity the team posses now; it will be very difficult for an African side to stand us let alone defeating us. I always go to bed and woke up with one constant prayer and that is ‘Lord please give us the trophy in 2008’ which I strongly belief will come to pass. In fact Tunisia and Egypt won the last two editions in 2004 and 2006 respectively after hosting the event so nothing prevent us from following or repeating that feat” he said.

The Ghanaian goalie, who was voted by FIFA as the third Best in the World after the Germany 2006 World, has played in every minute of Hammarby league matches this season and believes his side is capable of annexing the league title this season.

However, reports have it that Kingson appears to be on the shopping list of three English Premiership side as well as French side and another from Russia. Kingson, who was denied a move by his Turkish side BB Ankaraspor after receiving several European offers during the last World Cup in Germany, joined Swedish side Hammarby last March after the Stars engaged the Samba Boys of Brazil in an international friendly game which the Stars lost by a lone goal.
