Kenya hold Ghana

Kenya held Ghana to a 2-2 draw in a friendly match on Wednesday, in preparation for their World Cup qualifier against DR Congo.

Ghana, who are currently in the East African country for high altitude training, opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Italy-based striker Asamoah Gyan who who sneaked in between Kenya's central defence to score.

Gyan was later substituted with a shoulder injury.

The Kenyans, who had earlier turned down the offer to play the match, rallied before half-time with goals from John Barasa and Sammy Simiyu.

Kenya's regular poacher, John Baraza, drew level in the 44th minute. Hussein overlapped on the left all the way to the touchline squaring a pass for Baraza to score.

Collins Agyeman?s 1-2 move with Eric Gawa in the 57th minute failed as Muntari was poor on follow-up.

Harambee Stars thought they had pulled off an upset when substitute Maurice Sunguti tapped in Mohammed Hussein's cross in the 87th minute

Ghana grabbed the equalizer just before full-time through youngster Sulley Ali Muntari. A defence error cost Kenya the second goal. Hussein Mohammed gave away the ball in his territory allowing Collins Agyeman to rush in on him and lay out a perfect pass for Muntari with a long ball that was too much for Arnold Origi in the Kenyan goal.

The Ghanaians were disgusted when they were once again disallowed a penalty in the 89th minute.

Meanwhile, Ghana face more injury worries as defender Kofi Amponsah has been ruled out of Sunday's match as a result of an ankle injury.

The stars are already missing the services of defenders Sammy Kuffuor of the German side Bayern Munich and John Painstil who plays for the Israeli-team Hapoel Tel Aviv, for similar reasons.
