KFFA Names Under-17 Squad for Ghanaian Tie

The Kenya Football Federation has named a 25-man squad to go into residential training for the under-17 African youth championship.

The squad to be coached by Tom Olaba assisted by Yusuf Kyenzi, has been asked to report with travel documents on Monday.

Kenya face Ghana in the second round first-leg tie in Accra early next month. The return leg will be played in Nairobi two weeks later. The Kenyans made it to the second round after eliminating Eritrea in the first-round qualifier.

The squad, which will later be whittled down to 23 players to make the trip is:

Goalkeeper: Francis Ochieng (Mumias Sugar), Abdul Rahaman Al (Meru Bombers) and Raphael Omondi (AFC Leopards).

Defenders: Calvin Otieno (Kawangware), Samuel Kivui, Godfrey Kokoyo (Kamukunji Secondary School), Kevin Oluoch (Thur-Gem Secondary School), Isaac Odhiambo (Mumias), Kennedy Opiyo (IPS School), Christopher Liswa (Nzoia), Kevin Odongo (IPS School) and Bonaventure Misiko (Pipeline).

Midfielders: MacDonald Mariga (Kamukunji), Zacharia Kisekeli (St. Anthony's School), Hilary Omondi (Mumias), Hassan Aden (Panpaer), Anthony Katana (Sirakaru), Wilson Anyona (Ria Stars), Joseph Waweru (Nzoia), George Karanja (Kawangware).

Strikers: Aggrey Ongoli (Utalii), Joshua Ademba (Panpaper), Hesborn Odhimabo (Ria Stars), George Ondari (Nairobi Hospital) and Kevin Simiyu (Sher Agencies).

Six players called up to the training squad have been dropped. They are Russel Kibet (Mumias), Nicodemus Anunda (Shabana), Joseph Apendi (Kenya Pipeline), Jack Omondi and Dixon Analo (AFC Leopards).

Apart from Olaba and Kyenzi, other officials are Ampher Apidi (team manager) and Aden Guhad (team doctor).
