KEEA District gets football association

Elmina, May 23, GNA - An association to promote the development of football in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District was inaugurated at Elmina on Tuesday. The Chairman of the Central Region Football Association, Mr Matthew Doe, who inaugurated the association stressed that his administration would not tolerate any acts of hooliganism in the name of sports. Mr Doe therefore exhorted the five-member executive of the Association led by Mr Gabriel Tagborlo to endeavour to educate players and supporters about the importance of comporting themselves during and after matches.

He said that the survival of sports in the District will to a large extent depend on discipline and the comportment of the people. The Chairman expressed gratitude to the KEEA District Assembly for its support to the Association and urged it to continue with its goodwill.

An official of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr Ebow Dadzie, on behalf of the District Chief Executive, announced that the Assembly has acquired a playing field for the association. Mr Tagborlo said that the KEEA District Division Three League, will begin on June 1 and therefore advised the participating clubs to pay their registration fees on time to ensure a successful competition. 23 May 07
