Fifa Referee Joseph Lamptey has been appointed to be the center man for the Stephen Appiah testimonial match to be played on June 27 at the Accra Sports Stadium to officially announce his retirement from active football after an illustrious football career.
Referee Lamptey will be assisted on the line by Referee A.S. Malik from Tamale and David Laryea from Accra, with Cecil Fletcher of Takoradi as the 4th referee while the match commissioner will be Central Regional Football Association Chairman, MNS Doe.
The match will see a star studded Appiah XI facing the current Black Stars squad led by Captain Asamoah Gyan.
The Appiah XI side will parade players like Edgar Davids, Pavel Nedved, Nigel De Jong, J.J Okocha and Nwanko Kanu.
Other stars to feature will include former Middlesbrough midfielder, George Boateng and former Juventus attacker, Alesandro Del Piero.
Referee Joseph Lamptey was one of the few African referees at the just ended U 20 World Cup in New Zealand.
