Ghana forward Jordan Ayew scored Aston Villa's first goal in five games as the Villans slipped to yet another defeat, losing 2-1 against Bournemouth at the Villa Park on Saturday.

The 24-year-old fired home to the top right corner from an acute angle in the 85th minute.

Steve Cook and King Joshua scored in either halves to put Bournemouth in firm control of the tie but Ayew pulled a goal back for Villa with five minutes left to play.

Villa should have pulled even late into the game but Kieran Richardson missed golden opportunity to equalise on the hour, failing to connect with Ayew's cross.

Jordan Ayew ran on to a Gana pass to give everybody at least something to cheer about, but it was scant consolation.

Villa's Premier League status for next season is now in serious doubt is over following the defeat.

Ayew has now scored 6 Premier League goals for Villa but would not play in the English Premier League season if he decides to stay at Villa.
