Jordan Ayew and Albert Adomah were both heavily involved as Aston Villa won their second consecutive Championship match by beating Fulham 1-0 at Villa Park on Saturday.

The win takes the Midlanders up to 16th on 17 points, with the relegated side having now moved five points clear of the dropzone.

The club’s fortunes have turned around dramatically since Steve Bruce replaced Roberto Di Matteo on October 12, with the new man having won more matches in three games than his predecessor did in the previous 11.

The Ghana duo were influential in Bruce’s second victory, building on the midweek win at Reading with a 1-0 triumph at Villa Park.

Adomah, a 55th-minute introduction for Rudy Gestede, forged the decisive opening when he curled in a cross for Ivorian forward Jonathan Kodjia to bag the only goal of the game in the 80th minute of the match.

The wideman could have found the net himself when he failed to find the net with a close-range header late on.

Jordan, featuring as the left forward in Villa’s 4-3-3 formation, was arguably the game’s outstanding individual, taking a game-high seven shots (four of which were on target), registering a game-high three key passes and completing three dribbles—only one fewer than the excellent Adomah.

Sone Aluko of Nigeria and Togo’s Floyd Ayitey both featured for Fulham, while Franco-Togolese left-back Jordan Amavi featured for the full 90 for the home side.
