Jones Falls On Home-Based Stars Once Again

48 Hours after his local legion dominated a star studded Super Eagles side and managed a goalless draw, Black Stars head coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, has named a 22-man squad to meet DR Congo for the African Cup of Nations qualifier on the 25th March, once again with 13 players drawn from the Hearts of Oak side.

Beginning from tomorrow 15th March, the locally based players would once again be moving over to their new camping base in Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana.

Players who received the national call up were: Sammy Adjei gk, James Nanor gk, Jacob Nettey, Amankwah Mireku, Daniel Quaye, Charles Allotey, Edmund Copson, Agyemang Duah, Dan Oppong, Abdul Razak, Joe Ansah, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour and Adjah Tetteh all of Hearts of Oak.

The rest are Constance Mantey gk and Nana Arhin Duah both of Goldfields SC, Foster Bastios and Baffour Gyan (Liberty Professionals) Issa Mohammed (Hasacaas) Osei Kwame (Bofoakwa) Godwin Ablordey and Lawrence Adjei (Asante Kotoko).

Players missing out of the squad are Ishmael Addo, Stephen Tetteh and Charles Taylor all of Hearts of Oak who featured in the Black Stars' World Cup match against the Super Eagles last Sunday due to national commitments with the Black Satellites who are in Ethiopia preparing for the African Youth Championships to be hosted by Ethiopia.

Two players of Asante Kotoko, namely Isaac Owusu and Nana Frimpong who received call-ups for the Nigerian match but failed to report are this time out of the list for the DR Congo clash.

But another player of Asante Kotoko, Abedi Sarfo has received his first national call-up into the Black Stars.
