‘John Mensah’s World Cup chances very bleak’

Chief Drummer of the Black Stars Joseph Langabel believes it is done and dusted for Black Stars general Captain John Mensah as far as the 2014 World cup is concerned.

The Black Stars General Captain has been out of the national team since the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea mainly due to recurrent injuries which have denied him first team action at club level.

“John Mensah is out of the system for about two years now and if you are a Coach and it remains two or three games to the World Cup then a player who has not played for two years and you want to call him at the detriment of the others who have been consistent over the years? No!,” he said.

“You see, John Mensah is my man. He is my mentor but you see the World Cup we cannot go there with half fit players or fringe players and later come back and say had I known and had I known is always at last,” Langabel added.

The 31-year-old recently joined Slovakian side FC Nitra to end his extended spell without a club in hope to boost his chances of making the squad for the 2014 World Cup.
