Assistant Kotoko coach Michael Osei has described as unfortunate the broken leg injury to midfielder Jackson Owusu during a "Sunday Special" game.

The player sustained the injury at the Magazine Maakro Park while training with his colleagues and had to be carried to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

In a video footage, the injury which appears to be a grave shin damage saw the player shedding tears while his colleagues carried him shoulder high into the parked vehicle.

“I am still shocked because we are just less than a week to start the new season and this happens,” Osei told Starr FM Sports.

“We gave them two days off for them to visit their families and return to training on Monday and as I speak to you I am still trying to come to terms with the situation.”

Owusu is one of the 29 players registered by the club for the 2015/16 season. He joined Kotoko last season. He is expected to undergo surgery on Monday.
