Jabir offers bizarre wind excuse

The wind was to blame for a national football team's defeat in a crucial qualifier this weekend.

Ghana's Olympic team coach Malik Jabir, a legend in his native country, has sensationally blamed the elements in Mozambique for his team's 1-0 win defeat.

“I am surprised by the way the goal went in because it was an own goal and you needed to see it but I think the wind played a big role in the goal,” Jabir told Citi FM in Accra.

The second leg in Accra now has taken on an added importance, with Ghana having won the All Africa Games in 2011 under then coach Kwesi Appiah.

“We have moved straight into camping upon arrival in Ghana and we know what is expected of us and we will do all we can to make it to the All Africa Games,” the coach said.
