Italian Clubs Fail To Release Ghana U-20 Duo For Qualifier

Two Italian Serie A clubs have refused to release Ghana Under-20 duo Daniel Kofi Agyei and Afriyie Acquah for this weekend’s 2011 African Youth Championship qualifier at home.

Acquah, 17, promoted to Palermo first team this season, has impressed the technical team on their pre-season tour of Austria.

Fiorentina midfielder Agyei whose also with the first team on pre-season has been refused to join his international team mates for the match.He scored in a pre-season win over Cotena on Sunday.“I don’t expect their inability to arrive as a problem to the team because of the sort of talents in camp so we can cope and survive,” Black Satellites management committee chairman Jordan Anagla told Ghanasoccernet.com

Three other European-based players Jordan Ayew of Olympique Marseille, Genoa striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and Israel-based James Bissue will be available. Ghana play Namibia on Sunday 25 July at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra in the second round first leg qualifier.
