Injured Frimpong heads to Ghana

Ghana have been given a massive fitness boost as midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has boarded a plane in Amsterdam to arrive in Accra tonight for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier, ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The ex-England youth international’s debut for Ghana on Sunday was in serious doubt after picking up a groin injury late last week.
His absence in Fulham’s famous 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane over the weekend cast doubts over his availability for the Black Stars.
But the midfielder was seen by a ghansoccernet.com reader boarding a KLM flight bound for Accra tonight which means Frimpong is arriving in Ghana for the match against the Nile Crocodiles.
His arrival in Ghana for the match was also confirmed by his girlfriend Renée Lee Harriott who drove him to the City Airport in London for him to catch the KLM flight to Accra via Amsterdam.
She wrote on Twitter: “Morning! 5am en route to the Airport to see my baby off but super excited for him.”
Frimpong has been named in Kwesi Appiah’s 24-man squad for the must-win clash against the Desert Hawks at the Baba Yara Stadium on 24 March.
His availability is a boost for Ghana after youngster Christian Atsu was ruled out of the game because of injury.
Frimpong is on loan from Arsenal to Fulham.
