Increase winning bonuses to cover players’ sanitary needs

Chairman of the Black Queens Management Committee, Adam Munkaila has urged the Sports Ministry to consider an increment in the winning bonuses of the senior national women’s football team to facilitate the purchase of sanitary pads for the players.

“The female football teams are very difficult side to handle. Sometimes the authorities tend to handle the teams, the boys and the girls in the same way. I beg to differ here.”

“For example, the kind of allowances that are being paid to the girls, and with the girls, they have extra needs. We are talking about sanitary matters. So, it is one of our main difficulties so the amount of money given to our girls should be looked at and raised a little bit,” Alhaji Munkaila told the Presidential Commission of Enquiry on Friday.

The Queens, who are still being owed $6,000 in bonuses for qualifying for the Africa Women’s Championship, will depart for Windheok Namibia tomorrow to hold a 2 week pre-tournament camping ahead of the Namibia 2014 tourney and some of Coach Yusif Basigi’s ladies are likely to be in their menses during the period.
