Impilo Ghana FC loses to Bob Marley XI

Enterprising Impilo Ghana FC lost 0 ? 1 to a team representing the Bob and Rita Marley Foundation in a specially arranged football encounter played in memory of the late reggae musician last Sunday.

The game which was played at Konkonuru (home of the Bob and Rita Marley Foundations), was put together by the maangement of the 2nd division club in association with the two Foundations.

Terry Osborn scored the lone goal for the home team in the first half to cap a fine afternoon for his side who played a very determined game as they held on to the memory of the late Robert Nester Marley.

Saturday, May 11, marked the 32nd remembrance of the passing of Robert Nester Marley, and each year, his Foundation and that of his wife, (Rita), organizes an event to celebrate this musical icon who still reigns supreme in the hearts and minds of music lovers worldwide.

Prior to kick off, Bob Marlry?s wife, Rita, urged players of both sides to hold on to the discipline and dedication that her late husband stood for and also to work hard to strive to become the best that they could possibily be.

The Bob Marley XI received massive support from the chiefs and people of Konkonuru and this perhaps spured them on to clinch this famous victory as they played in memory of the late raggae musician.

Spokesperson for the Bob Marley XI RAS FIRE, said the game was played to remind the world of the principles that the great musician stood for and called on Africans to unite as one people to move the continent forward in the right direction.

He added: ?Bob Marley was a universal figure who loved sport especially football, and, also stood for equal rights and justice for all persons?, and, this is what he prevailed on world leaders to embrace.

Chief Executive Officer of Impilo Ghana FC, Kwabena Osei Bonsu hoped that the organization of this game, would be an annual affair as they seek to follow in the example set by Bob Marley.

The game was preceded by a curtain raiser between Greater Accra under 12 juvenile side, Shaka FC and Deportivo FC of Aburi which ended galless.

Robert Nester Marley of Jamaican origin died on May 11, 1981, and is acclaimed worldwide as the greatest reggae musician that ever lived with his tracks still popular in musical circles across the globe.
